Before your flight schedule make sure you know the items that you can’t bring when you board a Philippine Airlines domestic or international flight.
There are 2 x-ray machines, first when you enter the airport terminal, the second machine is when you enter the boarding gate. You will notice, especially on the final x-ray machine, that there are lots of bottled water, shampoo, lotion, sandwich spreads, jampacked in a transparent box. These items were confiscated during final baggage inspection.
To avoid getting your item confiscated, make sure to checked them in (for items allowed for check-in), or left them at home, for items which are not allowed for hand-carry or checked-in.

ITEMS ALLOWED FOR CHECK-IN AND CARRY-ON BAGGAGE
You can bring these on the airplane as hand carry or put in your baggage for check-in, but note that this is still subject to local airport security restrictions on carriage of Liquids, Aerosoles, and Gels (LAGs) in cabin baggage.
Alcoholic Beverages in retail packaging, containing 24% to 70% alcohol by volume, in receptacles not exceeding 5L, total quantity per person is 5L.
*If you are inside the boarding area and you buy wines or liquors in the duty-free shop, make sure the total volume of the alcoholic beverages does not exceed 5L.
Non-radioactive, medicinal, or toilet articles including aerosols such as hairsprays, perfumes, colognes and medicines containing alcohol. The total net quantity of these articles must not exceed 2L of 2 kg, and the net quantity of each single article must not exceed 0.5kg or 0.5L.
Carbon Dioxide, solid (dry ice) – This will be accepted by PAL provided its quantities shall not exceed 2.5kg per person when used as refrigerant to perishables, provided the package/baggage is completely sealed to prevent any release of CO2 gas.
Small, non-flammable gas cylinders containing CO2 or other suitable gas, up to small cylinders fitted into a life jacket, and up to two spare cartridges per person not more than four cylinders up to 50 ml water capacity for other devices.
Portable medical electronic devices are allowed for carry-on baggage and checked baggage but guest must secure first approval from PAL. These are devices like AED, nebulizer, POC which are US FAA approved, etc. containing lithium metal or lithium-ion cell batteries.
Oxygen or air, gaseous cylinders required for medical use are allowed for checked and carry-on baggage, however, passenger must secure prior approval from PAL to bring items on board. The cylinder must not exceed 5kg gross weight. Note: Liquid oxygen systems are forbidden for air transport.
ITEMS ALLOWED FOR CHECK-IN BUT NOT ALLOWED TO BRING AS CARRY-ON
Refer to this list of items which passengers can check but can’t bring to the cabin as hand-carry.
Work tools or equipment with smell of gas. Example of these are small gas-powered engine like chainsaw. These tools and equipment will be accepted in the check-in only if the fuel is completely purged and removed, and there is no smell emanating from the tool or equipment.
Battery-powered wheelchairs or other similar mobility devices – allowed for check-in but passenger must secure clearance and approval first from PAL.
Nail cutters, swiss knives, scissors, any bladed items or sharp objects
Umbrellas of any type (classic, folding, bubble, automatic umbrellas etc are for check-in)
Bicycle chains and jacks or other similar items
All kinds of adhesive tape (masking, packing, scotch, duct, electrical, rubber)
All kinds of sports equipment
*Not officially indicated but we suggest put tripod in checked-in bag.
ITEMS ALLOWED FOR CARRY-ON BUT NOT ALLOWED FOR CHECK-IN
These are the items which you can bring on-board the aircraft but you can’t check-in.
ECigarettes
Battery-powered mobility aids with lithium-ion batteries (collapsible), lithium-ion battery must be removed and carried.
Powerbanks with lithium-ion battery max of 100 WH
Rechargeable batteries on commercial cameras and video equipment between 101 to 160 WH. Limit to 2 only.
Non-rechargeable or Primary A4 size or smaller batteries (less than 2 grams of Lithium)
PROHIBITED FOR CHECK-IN AND CARRY-ON – DON’T BRING! BAWAL!!!
Tandaan po ang mga bawal dalhin sa eroplano. These items which are considered as “dangerous goods” are not allowed for check-in nor for hand-carry, not unless passenger got a prior clearance from PAL. Check the list below for restricted items on the airplane:

- Small vehicles powered by Lithium batteries. Examples of these are Hoverboard, Airwheel, Solowheel, Mini Segway, Balance Wheels, and similar gadget/devices.

Other airlines serving Philippine routes may impose the same baggage item restrictions for 2017, or may even have more rules. It is the duty of the passenger to get the details of prohibited items direct from the airlines before the flight schedule.
